Salon Success: Business, Marketing and Social Media
So I guess I kind of done this without really knowing. The beach makes me feel calm, relaxed & centered. I guess that’s why I live where I do. So my cover photo is nail products in the corner of a nice shot of my local beach.
You did indeed, your cover photo is great!
Do you think a cover video is better than a photo? I really need to redo mine and I like the idea of having a cover video.
Yup video is always better than photo as long as it achieves the same goal.
At the moment I have the stock standard monaco training image. TBH its a cop out and I know it, its easy to have it there because I really don’t know what to put there. I know when I think of calming/relaxing and inviting its a clean salon (nails, hair, beauty – all applies), light colours (white/cream combos), not cluttered (if its too ‘busy’ I feel overwhelmed), simplicity (tying in with no clutter). Ideally this is what i WANT my nail area to look like, it doesn’t (work in progress) and prob why at this stage I wouldn’t feel comfortable putting a photo up of it.
I would go to 123rf.com and search cream, simple, pretty – words like that. You’re not looking for a photo of a salon, so you’re not false advertising. You’re projecting a feeling. You have to go for a chicken-and-egg kind of thing. You cannot wait until everything is perfect to start lining everything else up, it will never happen. Get the cover photo right and then do one small thing (it can be minuscule) to make your space more light, simple, clean or uncluttered each week or two.
Thinking about a couch with a beautiful fabric or a stole kinda throw that hangs halfway down on the floor with fluffy cushions makes me feel relaxed with a coffee at the corner table next to it and little rain drizzles outside giving a warm cozy feel to that environment. wowwww… it actually makes me feel relaxed and cozy hahahahah…. I got what you saying Penny and I got what I am looking for to sell next to attract clients.. but I have a black background where my nail corner is sometimes put me in doubt when I click my desk photos, would that attract my clients? also grabs my attention on a few things I need to replace and rearrange in my working space.
Lovely! You mean the wall is painted black? Can you cover it in fairy lights and artwork and plants? Black is ok, just not PLAIN black 🙂
After looking at these photos, I would feel comfortable with the wood floor, warm light, aroma candles, and also flowers/green plants. I will need to re-make my salon because it’s kind of too many things squishing in a small space after I started to share the nail room with my son. I wouldn’t check the salon with only nail photos on their FB page unless the art is amazing.
Lovely ideas!
The types of places I’m most likely to book are ones that show ambiance (salon rooms) or work being done (facial with a brush, makeup artist applying to a laughing/happy client) with high quality images. Flowers make me happy. I love seeing plants and flowers in places. It makes the place feel loved and cared for. I need to change both my cover photo and my page photos on my website. I currently have a colours, a quote and an image of work I’m proud of. But I think I need to create some flat lay images…. Nails showing my set up or products and tools I use…. Makeup showing my set up and maybe my cover photo being of the flowers or table area in my salon…..
This is a really great idea 🙂
I have my logo and the front of my business card as my cover and profile photos.
I like my logo as my profile as it says who I am but the cover photo should be changed.
what makes me comfortable I guess when going to a salon the smell and a comfortable chair (which reminds me my chair sucks) smell is important if it an over powering room (you know like that toilet spray smell) it completely put me off. I like vanilla or something warm (cant quite think of the smell) like washing drying in the dryer (but not that smell in a salon haha)
Perfect 🙂
I am totally 100% drawn to the lady receiving a facial, It makes me feel so relaxed and calm. Almost like I could take a deep breath and melt in my seat.
I would love to do some action shots of me working on my most valued clients, even if its shot from behind them so it’s only getting me and their nails.
My current cover photo is of a set I’ve done and with a concrete road as the background and my logo and contact details as well. It doesn’t make me feel anything besides it was a set I was proud of.
Things that make me feel calm and relaxed are things like, Clean and minimal spaces eg, Salon spaces, Homes, offices, cafes ect. I love the colour white with natural woods especially oak to me this is just very aesthetically pleasing which makes me calm. Plants also make me feel calm, especially when they are lushush and green.
I get really inspired looking at these types of spaces ect when scrolling on my phone or visiting in person. I am also inspired by alot of people whether it’s from life events, stories they’ve told or work they’ve produced.
I get excited when I get to catch up with friends/ family or travel! the feeling of getting to see someone or see a different place than my norm really excites me 🙂
Perfect!
Also, NO pressure, but have a chat with Mum (Linaire Vipond in the group) about branding photoshoots, she goes down to Katikati regularly to visit Nana and I’m sure she’d love to pop over to the Mt and do a photoshoot with you on the way.
The one that i was drown it to was that lady having her face done. make me feel very relaxed and calm. when i look at that picture i fell like i want to have that feeling and experience my self. that’s make me feel like i need to change my cover photo asap.
i took an auction and cover my back wall with wallpaper that has beautiful green leafs on it. its really make my salon more relax and give the feeling of vacation on a colourful island. i’m so happy i did it.
i wont book with any of these who shows me poor pictures of nails, or the floor or a messy salon that has so much staff in it.
I need to see this wallpaper, it sounds divine!
MY phone is broken and im waiting for nearly 2 weeks for the insurance to fix it, soon as its back i will add a photo. its really hard not to be able to communicate properly….
That would drive me crazy Nati!
Nail Art Blossom Hill and The Real Precision Nail Studio photos looks lovely.. I’d most likely book with either of these as the first shows a relaxing facial which is all I want right now (hahah) and the second shows a beautiful salon set up. Clean lines and neutral colours really looks great.
Perfect 🙂
Just like everyone else the cover photo of the lady getting a facial is the one that attracts me the most. It is a clear photo, it has good/warm lighting and gives a very relaxing/calming feel, we all want to be her right now! After doing this lesson in the 5 Day Salon Reset I updated my cover photo from a picture of a set of nails I had done to a picture of my desk set up with the sun setting through the window behind the desk. It is a lovely photo, the curtains give it a soft feeling and the lighting is warm and inviting. It crops nicely on Facebook on my phone but unfortunately, not so nicely when I view it on the laptop so I need to work on getting another picture. I’m either going to try to recreate the same picture but taken on a wider angle to fix the problem, or I like the idea of an picture of myself doing a clients nails, taken from behind the client, so you can’t see them but you do see me and my set up. I think this will create a similar feeling to the photo of the lady getting the facial done, where you want to be the client.
I love the photo of the women getting a facial – facial = relaxation and that attracts me to look more into the business. Also i really like the photo of the salon layout, i think its a great way to show your future clients what they can expect etc.
My current photo on my facebook is a collage of all my fav manicures but now looking at my room i feel that taking a picture of my set up would be perfect and inviting to whoever is looking at my profile and deciding if they want to come to me.
I agree 😀
