The Monaco Accredited Training Partner program allows Monaco graduates to deliver approved, in-person, one-on-one training under Monaco’s brand. Partners manage the student relationship, including marketing, enrolments, and payments, while Monaco maintains quality control, online resources, certification, and brand integrity.
This hybrid model ensures Monaco continues offering online training directly, while expanding in-person reach through trusted graduates.
Who Can Apply?
- The MATP Program is available to graduates of Monaco Nail Academy (from either full qualifications or individual modules) who meet the criteria for Bronze, Silver, or Gold level accreditation (detailed below).
- Qualified Techs who trained elsewhere will be considered on a case-by-case basis - we still want you to apply!
MATP can only offer modules that they themselves have completed and passed (equivalent qualifications from non-Monaco courses will be considered). Once approved, they are able to offer applicable modules on a one-on-one, in person basis
Online training remains exclusively offered by Monaco unless prior written approval is granted.
How Does It All Work?
- First, you apply to be a Training Partner
- We review your application and discuss directly with you whether we need you to meet any further criteria before approval (eg if you completed your qualification elsewhere we might ask to see examples of your work)
- Once approved, we issue a contract that both of us sign
- We will set you up with lesson plans, online resources and support systems
- You promote your courses, set the price and take payment from the student directly.
Out of the fees you collect from your student, you must -
- Provide a Kit (although this can be optional if clearly outlined prior to enrolment), either one of our options, OR a kit of your own composition as long as it includes all items in the Recommended Kit List and that where applicable, ALL products are pro-only.
- Ensure all students have passed The Theory of Nails. It costs $75 to register a student for Theory, how you charge and what guidance or coaching you provide is up to you. If a student believes they have the necessary prior knowledge to pass Theory without the course content, they may attempt the online assessment twice for free (at no charge to the MATP) before enrolment is required.
- Pay us a nominal Student Registration Fee (which differs per module and by Partner Status, detailed below)
- Facilitate all Live Lessons required for each module offered (Lesson Guides are available here)
- Cover at LEAST the first attempt at all exams. If additional attempts are to incur additional charges for the student, this must be clearly explained before sign up. If not clearly explained, resits must be provided at the Trainers own cost. Note that Dipping Systems, Soft Gel Extensions, The Art of Nails and Salon Success do not have exams.
- Consider Affiliate Codes - We promote Affiliate Codes whereby a new student can enter a Coupon Code that gives them 10% off the course, and provides a kickback of 10% to the Affiliate who promoted our courses. The MATP needs to either factor the discount AND kickback into their costs and manage kickback payment OR clearly advise prior to enrolment that Affiliate Codes are not accepted by them.
- Manage their own invoicing, tax, business overheads and associated fees.
Sound scary?
We've got to be thorough with this info because we are protecting the integrity of our business and students BUT think of it this way -
- Factor in $75 for Theory, plus the Student Registration Fee, and your hourly rate for live lessons and exams.
- Add a kit if you want to, make it clear if you don't.
- Add a buffer for Affiliate Kickbacks or make it clear that you don't.
- Add a percentage to cover your tax and that's your price.
Once you have signed your contract, we will provide you with a calculator that helps you work out the best price to charge.
What Do I Get From Monaco?
From the Student Registration Fee, Monaco will provide -
- Pre-recorded online resources - the MATP will be given a code with which to register their students on our website
- Certificates for qualifying students
- Product discounts for the MATP at escalating scale
- Access to Monaco events and community groups for both MATP and their students
- Training Support - A direct line of contact for support in your MATP journey
- Marketing Support - The opportunity for one static Facebook post, one static Instagram post, and one Stories Takeover per month. MATP can submit additional content any time they want but publishing won’t be guaranteed. ALL submitted content must be unique to the Monaco platforms, and should make potential students excited to become Nail Techs, seeing Monaco as a safe space to do so - eg Before and Afters, Progress, Problems Solved or Student Milestones.
Note -
- Registration in The Theory of Nails is additional as it will only apply once per student
- Assessments are additional as they are paid directly to a Gold MATP
- Dipping Systems, Soft Gel Extensions, The Art of Nails and Salon Success do not have exams.
Accreditation Levels
Three levels of Accreditation are available –
Bronze
Criteria -
- Can offer modules that they themselves have completed and passed (equivalent qualifications from non-Monaco courses will be considered).
Perks -
- 5% Discount on Monaco Products for the MATP
Assessments
- A Gold MATP must supervise all Assessments (sitting and marking) at a fee of $49 per hour, to be arranged directly with the Gold MATP and with the fees covered by the Bronze MATP
Silver
Criteria -
- Can offer modules that they themselves have completed and passed (equivalent qualifications from non-Monaco courses will be considered).
- Must have passed at least two Monaco Assessments with scores of 95% or higher (continued attempts throughout the MATP journey are encouraged. MATP who have already passed but are re-sitting for 95% will be allowed to re-sit for free)
- Must have had at least three students achieve scores of 95% or higher in practical assessments.
Perks -
- 10% Discount on all Student Registration Fees. This is intended to increase your profit margin and allow room for funding marketing incentives, not to be passed directly to the students although this is at your discretion.
- 10% Discount on Monaco Products for the MATP
Assessments
- A Gold MATP must supervise the marking of all Assessments (marking ONLY) at a fee of $49 per hour, to be arranged directly with the Gold MATP and with the fees covered by the Silver MATP
Cross-Promotion
- ‘Competing’ Distributors who reach Silver Status may request 1 video to be added to the module of their choice, featuring their product. The videos need to complement the existing content, feature a Gold MATP and the Silver MATP with roles (demonstrator, model, interviewer etc) to be determined case-by-case. Monaco will edit the content, seek feedback from the MATP to ensure both parties are happy, and will hold exclusive publishing rights.
Gold
Criteria -
- Can offer modules that they themselves have completed and passed (equivalent qualifications from non-Monaco courses will be considered).
- Must have passed at least four Monaco Assessments with scores of 95% or higher (continued attempts throughout the MATP journey are encouraged. MATP who have already passed but are re-sitting for 95% will be allowed to re-sit for free)
- Must have had at least six students achieve scores of 95% or higher in practical assessments.
Perks -
- 20% Discount on all Student Registration Fees. This is intended to increase your profit margin and allow room for funding marketing incentives, not to be passed directly to the students although this is at your discretion.
- 20% Discount on Monaco Products for the MATP
Assessments
- A Gold MATP can supervise and mark all of their own Assessments
- They must be available for at least one Assessment Supervision shift per month (minimum 3 hours) and accept the fee of $49 per hour. They are supervising only - not doing the marking, but critiquing or correcting as necessary.
- They can offer to combine Assessments for multiple students or MATS into Supervision Days - it makes sense that if a lower-level MATP books you, you reach out to all others and see if anyone else has students who want to join the session. If doing this, the Gold MATP can charge all Assessments, therefore increasing hourly rate BUT must discount the hourly rate by 30% for all participating MATP of Bronze or Silver Status.
Cross-Promotion
- ‘Competing’ Distributors who reach Gold Status may request 3 videos to be added to the module of their choice, featuring their product. The videos need to complement the existing content, feature the Gold MATP AND an additional Gold MATP with roles (demonstrator, model, interviewer etc) to be determined case-by-case. Monaco will edit the content, seek feedback from the MATP to ensure both parties are happy, and will hold exclusive publishing rights.
- For each additional $500 in Student Registration Fees, we will produce an additional video
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I didn’t train with Monaco?
Talk to us! Depending on your experience and background, we may consider working with you on the condition that you watch certain pre-recorded content or that you do a mock exam with a Gold MATP – whatever we feel works best to ensure our courses are consistent across the board.
Do I have to have completed ALL Modules?
Not at all. We’re aware that someone could be an incredible manicurist while leaving something like PolyGel for years down the track. Why should new students miss out on their skills and insight just because they’re still evolving?
How much work is required of me - do I have to market myself?
This is entirely up to you.
ALL enquiries for in-person training coming in to Monaco, are directed to our MATP Directory. That might be your only form of marketing, and that is totally ok.
Alternatively, you might focus some of your social media, paid ads, and networking efforts on building your MATP business and we will help where we can. All MATP are encouraged to add courses to their websites, and online booking systems.
As an example of passive advertising, Penny added the modules to her Salon Fresha and added a Fresha link to her MATP profile. Picktime allows you to add classes.
Why would someone enrol with a MATP and not directly with Monaco?
Going forward, Monaco will only offer in-person training (other than the NZ Nail Tech Summit) via MATP. Students who enquire about in-person training will be directed to a MATP Directory and encouraged to enquire directly.
In addition, our Training Providers have followings of their own – many students will be drawn to training with their favourite Nail Tech or brand over and above the Monaco name. The MATP Program is a collaboration that aligns the strengths of both parties.
Is this just another way of doing Affiliate Referrals?
No. With Affiliates, you promote Monaco, and we do all the work, with a small kickback to you to thank you for promoting us.
The MATP Program is more independent.
- You advertise your courses
- You set the price
- Students enrol with you
- You supply the kit (ours or your own as long as its pro-only)
- You supply the live lessons and assessments
- You register your student with us
- We supply the prerecorded online content
- We supply the certificate and the reputation
It’s a collaboration that allows us to focus on our strengths (course creation and fostering self employment opportunities) while giving our graduates opportunities to diversify their revenue streams while remaining in control of their time and income.
I distribute another brand, will I ultimately be directing sales to Monaco for Artistic?
That’s not how we see it. We use Artistic, and we sell it because we love it and our students need to use SOMETHING, so why not the thing we use ourselves – BUT – we have no dreams of being a massive wholesaler. We love education and want to grow that side of the business.
The dream is –
- You bring in enough students that we add 20+ videos using your product, to our courses
- Now ALL Monaco students have ALL of that knowledge (especially because lots of newbies panic about choosing a brand)
- You join us on the Salon Success Podcast
- We cross promote each other on Social Media
- Multiply that by MANY Distributors – the entire industry wins
- Feel free to build a Kit that services our courses – we will link to it as an option and can fill in any gaps by collaborating.
It’s not competition unless you want to teach all your own stuff – but we have SO many resources – YEARS of filming, editing and growing – so why not focus on enhancing our resources and building the most bad ass course known to Nail Techtopia?!
Am I right in understanding that as a Bronze MATP I couldn’t mark my own students assessments?
Not quite. As a Bronze MATS, you will do the marking, but a Gold MATP will supervise you (usually via Zoom). The fee you charge your students should cover this supervision cost, which you pay directly to the Gold MATP.
Here’s how it works:
- At Bronze level: All assessments are marked by you but supervised in real time by a Gold MATP.
- After 3 students achieve 95%+ scores: Supervision is only required for the final marking stage, which usually takes just 15-30 minutes, making it much more affordable.
- Once 6 students achieve 95%+ scores: You’ll be eligible to progress to Gold Accreditation, and your assessment independence increases.
This process is about calibration – ensuring consistency, fairness, and alignment across all MATS. Gold MATP have already been through calibration training and bring their experience to help keep assessments on the same page.
Will Bronze Training Providers be looked down upon for having their Assessments supervised?
We believe that supervising the marking of Bronze and Silver Training Providers adds integrity to our qualifications. No one is accepted as a MATP unless they are competent, skilled and will represent Monaco well – we are proud of ALL Training Providers and market as such. Silver and Gold status acknowledges and rewards experience and proven results. In ANY role, you start with closer supervision and assistance from your senior team and progress through the ranks – and even a CEO is monitored by a Board. Our most Senior Mentors attend calibration every year, and that integrity and calibration trickles down through ALL ranks. If I were enrolling in a course that had no seniority verifying it’s integrity, I would personally look elsewhere.
Cool that we set our own prices BUT - how do I know what to charge?!
We've set up an online calculator for our registered MATP's - all you have to do is enter your desired hourly rate and it will suggest a good price to start with for each module.
How can I justify charging premium prices for training?
This is private tuition, not a big classroom. Private training is always more expensive, because it’s direct, personalised, and focused entirely on one learner.
Try not to project your personal priorities or budget onto potential students. We regularly have people enquire, then transfer thousands of dollars within hours or days to secure their spot. If someone's priority is support, depth and quality of training, they will budget for those values. If their budget doesn't extend that far, you can recommend that they do The Theory of Nails and Manicures and Pedicures online (enrolling with your Affiliate Code so you get a kickback of course) and then, once they're earning income from Manicure services, they can continue their studies in-person with you. If they're after the piece of paper and not the thorough education, Monaco may not be the right place for them, and that's ok.
The other thing to note is that you're not locked into a single price structure. For example, you could offer a full-day training in Manicures & Pedicures for a group of 4. You would still pay the full registration fee to Monaco for each student (although for a big enough group, feel free to approach us for a compromise) but could discount your hourly rate by half. With 4 students, you would still be earning twice your normal hourly rate, but they would be getting a significant discount.
You could also approach salons and offer a team training day at a price that works for the business.
An alternate option is to supply product used during lessons and leave students to source their own kits.
Fees for private tuition might sound high, but there’s flexibility - and the right students will pay for private, professional training.
👉 Remember: you’re not just charging for hours in a classroom. You’re charging for your expertise, your time, your personal attention, and the exclusivity of private training. Students who want that experience see the value - and are happy to pay for it.
How does Monaco calculate their fee?
We review our course pricing every year to make sure it’s fair, consistent, and sustainable. Prices are based on the cost of creating and maintaining our resources, including our extensive pre-recorded video library, support systems, and administration. Each module is priced in proportion to the amount of content and support it includes, so the cost reflects its share of the overall program.
For online modules, additional items like kits and mentor wages are added to create full package options - just as MATPs do when building their own in-person offerings.
I'm keen but worried about set up costs
One of our interested MATP candidates said "Everything sounds awesome! Thank you for the opportunity. Just with the start up costs that I'll have to account for and organise e,g. insurance/Eftpos/Afterpay/kits etc. Do you have a rough idea of how many students would be inquiring for the Auckland area?"
Now with numbers, I didn't have anything concrete to give her because we were just launching MATP BUT what I did say was - "Don't let any of those things get in the way of starting up. Get insurance with your first pay day, invoice via Hnry, get paid by bank transfer, and order the kit when they pay you for it - just clearly state that there's a 14 day lead time"
The key is to start lean and build as you grow. Many MATPs launch with the basics and then add extra systems (like Eftpos or Afterpay) once they’ve got momentum.
Terms and Conditions
Enrolment Compliance
MATP's must make sure that the following information is displayed clearly on their website or directly given to students before enrolment and that written acceptance by the student is received -
- Their accreditation level (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
- Any potential extra costs (e.g., kit upgrades, exam re-sits, supervision fees)
- Whether the MATP honours Affiliate Codes
- Prerequisites of each module - It is the responsibility of the MATP to ensure prerequisites are clearly understood prior to enrolment.
- Completion requirements of each module - The MATP is responsible for ensuring their students understand the requirements of completing each module (eg online content, live lessons and exam passes) before enrolling. All students must meet those requirements before receiving certification. Note that Dipping Systems, Soft Gel Extensions, The Art of Nails and Salon Success do not have exams.
- An understanding that their contract is with the MATP, not Monaco. Monaco provides certification and resources but is not liable for fulfilling lessons, issuing refunds, personal injury, or disputes.
- Refund & Cancellation Policy - MATP must set their own refund policy, meeting NZ consumer law standards. Students must be told in writing who is responsible for refunds (the MATP, not Monaco).
Student Registration Fees
This is the fee the MATP pays to Monaco when registering a student, NOT the amount the student pays.
How much you charge students is up to you, based on your experience and overheads – as long as the kit, prerequisites, live lessons and assessments are covered.
- Foundation Certificate in Nail Technology – $1499
- Introduction to Nail Technology - $699 + $266.67 if you want them to do their Assessments with us in Online Groups (This course has no Live Lessons - if you added them, it would become the Foundation Certificate)
- Natural Nail Specialist – $659
- The Theory of Nails - $89*
- Manicures and Pedicures - $179
- Using the IBX System - $39
- Builder in a Bottle - $279
- Dipping Systems - $149
- Acrylic - $299
- Hard Gel - $299
- PolyGel - $229
- Pre-Formed Soft Gel Extensions - $89
- E-File - $89
- The Art of Nails - $119*
- Salon Success: Accelerator - $429
*These modules have no live lesson component however we would suggest offering an option to add, for example, an 8-hour day for working through Theory together, or an 8-hour day where you cover a mix of student-requested art demos and demos that are currently trending.

Lesson Admin
MATP's must -
- Submit Portfolio-style photos of all student work from both lessons and assessments within 24 hours of any lesson, into the MATP Group Chat
- Submit a lesson summary with WWW/WCHGB within 24 hours of any lesson, into the MATP Group Chat
Maintaining Training Partner Status
MATP's must -
- Attend a 6-monthly Calibration Day, held online on a Saturday. Calibration Day is free if you have paid $500 worth of Student Registration Fees in the previous 6 months, or it is $99 to attend.
- Pass The Theory of Nails in May and November every year
- Stay compliant with Monaco’s standards - accreditation expires if criteria are not met.
- Maintain professional behaviour, including respectful communication, a safe teaching environment, and compliance with laws.
The Fine Print
Brand Protection
- MATP must not reproduce any of the online content provided by Monaco Nail Academy
- Use of Monaco name/logo - MATP must only use Monaco branding, logos, and materials provided/approved by Monaco. They may not create their own logos or edit Monaco’s.
- All promotions must make it clear that the MATP is a “Monaco Accredited Training Partner” (not Monaco itself).
Integrity and Compliance
- MATP must commit to completing the training of any student who enrols directly with them. We recommend that students enrol and therefore commit to one Module at a time rather than the full Foundation Certificate for this reason.
- Business or Public Liability insurance and compliance with local health & safety regulations is the responsibility of the MATP. We recommend that they seek independent, professional advice as to which, if any, is necessary for their circumstances - The NZ Association of Registered Beauty Professionals includes insurance with their membership fee and this is a good place to start.
- MATPs are independent operators and not employees, contractors, or franchisees of Monaco Nail Academy.
- The MATP program provides access to Monaco training resources and recognition, but MATPs remain responsible for their own business, clients, and financial decisions.
Exclusivity
- MATP may not provide training services independently of Monaco or for any other training establishment for a period of 6 months after their most recent Accreditation expires.
- This covers nationwide opportunities and restricts both online and in-person training, mentoring and coaching of any kind within the beauty, business and marketing industries.
- Exceptions may be granted to MATP's with exclusive distribution rights for professional-only brands, where brand-specific training is necessary to maintain their distribution rights. This needs to be mutually agreed to with Monaco Nail Academy, in writing, before you register as a MATP and any changes over time need to also be mutually accepted.
Finances
- MATP must pay out any Affiliate Kickbacks received but can elect not to honour Affiliate Codes as long as this is clearly stated to students before enrolment.
- Accreditation and registration fees must be paid to Monaco within 7 days of student enrolment.
- Monaco reserves the right to review the fee structure annually
Termination
- MATP Status will not be renewed beyond existing enrolments if a complaint is made against them by a student and the MATP is found to be at fault after reasonable consultation and review.
- If quality standards are breached, Monaco can issue warnings, require retraining, suspend, or revoke accreditation.
- Monaco reserves the right to review student materials, recordings (if online coaching happens), or visit in-person training (by prior notice) to ensure compliance.
- MATP Status will not be renewed beyond existing enrolments if they are found to breach any of these conditions.
