Important Note –
A few of the videos in this module (all shorter ones, thankfully) have an audio echo. We must have bumped a setting or something, because they’re all from one particular filming session and the audio is fine in videos shot before and after that session.
We have discussed re-shooting them, but, as a team, have come to the conclusion that as the majority of these were adlibbed and we are proud of the information they contain, we don’t want to re-shoot and end up with an inferior level of information in the new video. It’s always hard to make the same adlib magic twice! We have discovered that the echo varies in effect between listening devices, so if it is significant for you, try with and without headphones or on a different device if you can.
The way we price our courses is based on the hours of live classes, not the hours of pre-recorded content, and you do still get 12 hours of live education with a mentor, no matter what.
How does it work?
Within 2 business days of enrolling, you will receive access to the online components of your course, which you can access by logging into this website. You can work through the content at your leisure, but need to complete it before attending live lessons.
As you work through the pre-recorded content of each Module, you will often see markers that say ‘It’s Time to Book a Lesson’ (which refers to a live session with a Mentor). There will be instructions on how to book. You can see a breakdown of all lessons by downloading a Lesson Guide from our Student Resources page.
Lessons can be booked with complete flexibility around your own needs and availability, matched with the availability of your chosen Mentors. You might choose to attend only mornings, only afternoons, only weekends, or a total mix and match – it’s entirely up to you. If you have limited availability or need to finish quickly, please email us to check your Mentors availability before enrolling.
Tell me more about Builder in a Bottle
Builder in a Bottle or BIAB is a gel alternative to Dip, ideal for overlaying natural nails to enhance strength and structure before applying gel polish.
While relatively new compared to other nail systems, emerging in the late 2010s alongside other similar all-in-one gel systems, BIAB is fast becoming a must-have for all salons, with crazy-good adhesion, strength and flexibility. These products combine base, builder, and top coat into a single application, streamlining the process of creating strong and resilient nail extensions or overlays.
BIAB is not always as widely requested as dip, which clients have often heard of via friends or their own experiences at high-volume salons. However, it’s natural feeling and backfill-ability quickly converts those who have struggled with weak or brittle nails in the past.
The Pros: BIAB offers a convenient and efficient application process, providing natural-looking results with enhanced strength and durability. It feels much more natural than other systems that offer the same strength, and being able to backfill it instead of needing to remove it at every appointment means reduced risk of natural nail damage. BIAB generally extends the life of a Manicure, which, although reducing the frequency and therefore income per individual client, definitely makes those clients more loyal.
The Cons: Skill is required to apply BIAB evenly, as improper application techniques may affect the durability and appearance of the nail enhancements. Builder in a Bottle can spike in temperature during curing but this can be managed and we teach you how during this course.

What if I’m not good enough?
Your live lessons are where, after watching the pre-recorded demonstrations, a Mentor can help you in real-time. There’s a misconception that you need to be good before you join a lesson but this is definitely false! A lesson is where your Mentor guides you through practicing for the first time – you’re not supposed to be a master.
Where are the courses held?
This course is 100% online including pre-recorded, live and exam components. Complete from your home or salon, no matter where you are.
Will I get a Certificate?

*Live Lessons – It’s a common misconception that our online courses are just pre-recorded videos, however they actually include indepth live lessons done via Zoom. We genuinely find that students get better results from online training as they can see closer and across multiple angles, even recording their lessons to rewatch. However, if –
- You have previously completed training in the same subject and are using this course as a refresher.
- OR you plan on working towards the Introduction to Nail Technology
- OR you only plan on doing a couple of modules and are happy with an A5 ‘Short Course’ Certificate
– then use Coupon Code SHORTBIAB at Check Out and we’ll remove live lessons from your enrolment. You still have to do the Assessment though!
**Don’t need a kit? We do require you to use professional-only products during lessons and assessments, but if you already have these, that’s ok! Use Coupon Code NOKITBIAB at Check Out and we’ll remove the kit from your enrolment.
