What Are Preformed Soft Gel Extensions?

Preformed soft gel extensions are full-coverage nail tips made from soft gel, which are adhered directly to the natural nails using a special gel adhesive. They are pre-shaped and pre-sized, which adds strength to the soft gel formula. This system also simplifies nail extensions, which is perfect for achieving beautiful, durable nails quickly and efficiently.

How Does It Work?

• Preparation: Start by prepping the nails—shape them, push back the cuticles, and lightly buff the surface.
• Choosing the Right Size: Select the appropriate size of preformed soft gel extension tips for each nail. Make sure they fit snugly from sidewall to sidewall without gaps and blend them out by buffing.
• Prime: Prime the natural nails and each tip, making sure to wait for 10-15 seconds.
• Apply Adhesive: Apply gel adhesive to the natural nail and to the underside of the preformed gel extension.
• Application: Press the preformed gel tip onto the natural nail. Hold it in place and flash cure to secure it.
• Full Cure: Once all extensions are applied, fully cure them under a UV or LED light to ensure the adhesive is completely set.
• Shaping and Buffing: If needed, shape and buff the extensions to refine the edges and achieve the desired finish.
• Top Coat: Apply a top coat to seal and add shine, then cure again.

What to look out for

• Learning Curve: There might be a learning curve to start, but with practice, you’ll be confident.
• Proper Fit: Ensuring the correct size and fit is important for a natural look and long-lasting wear.
• Curing: Proper curing is essential to prevent lifting and ensure a strong bond.
• Removal: These extensions can be soaked off with acetone, similar to other gel products, making removal easier and less damaging to the natural nails.

Pro Tips for Better Gel-On Extensions

• Thin Layers: Apply the gel adhesive in thin, even layers to avoid bulkiness and ensure proper adhesion.
• Avoid Air Bubbles: Press the extension onto the nail at an angle and roll it down to prevent air bubbles (which can cause lifting!)
• Proper Curing: Make sure each extension is fully cured under the light to ensure a strong bond.
• Size: Make sure the tips are sized to fit your client’s nails, for better adhesion.
